Summary

Main use
Adjunct to anesthesia (for secretions, bradycardia, vagal reflexes, etc.); adjunctive treatment of peptic ulcers
Who receives it
Adults · Children
Adult administration
During anesthesia Preoperative administration: 30-60 minutes before the anticipated induction of anesthesia, or as preanesthetic medication (narcotic and/or sedative), administer the recommended dose of glycopyrrolate 0.004 mg (0.02 mL) per kg of body weight by intramuscular injection. Intraoperative administration: Administer to prevent vagal reflexes induced by drugs or associated with arrhythmias. Give 0.1 mg (0.5 mL) intravenously per dose; repeat at 2-3-minute intervals if necessary. Determine the number of doses after identifying the cause of the arrhythmia, and take appropriate measures during surgery and anesthesia to correct parasympathetic imbalance. Administration for reversal of neuromuscular blockade: Administer glycopyrrolate 0.2 mg (1 mL) intravenously for every 1.0 mg of neostigmine or 5.0 mg of pyridostigmine. To minimize cardiac effects, the drugs may be administered simultaneously by intravenous injection and mixed together. Adjunctive treatment of peptic ulcer Administer 0.1 mg (0.5 mL) of glycopyrrolate per dose by subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injection 3-4 times daily at 4-hour intervals. A dose of 0.2 mg (1.0 mL) may be administered if a stronger effect is required.
Child administration
Preoperative administration: In children aged 1 month-12 years, administer the recommended dose of glycopyrrolate 0.004 mg (0.02 mL) per kg of body weight by intramuscular injection 30-60 minutes before the anticipated induction of anesthesia, or as preanesthetic medication (narcotic and/or sedative). Preoperative administration: In children aged 1 month-2 years, 0.008 mg (0.04 mL) per kg of body weight may be administered. Intraoperative administration: Administer 0.004 mg (0.02 mL) per kg of body weight intravenously; do not exceed 0.1 mg (0.5 mL) per dose. If repeated, administer at 2-3-minute intervals.

Efficacy & effects

Adjunct to anesthesia (for secretions, bradycardia, vagal reflexes, etc.); adjunctive treatment of peptic ulcers

  • Secretion of saliva
  • bronchial fluid secretion

  • vagal inhibition reflex
  • peripheral muscarinic effects (bradycardia and excessive secretion)
View approved original text

This medication helps control secretions during anesthesia by reducing saliva, bronchial secretions, pharyngeal secretions, and gastric acid secretion before surgery. It is also used to maintain a stable heart condition by preventing reflex inhibition of the vagus nerve during anesthesia induction. It is used in combination with neostigmine or pyridostigmine to prevent bradycardia and excessive secretion, which may occur as side effects of muscle relaxants. Additionally, it can be used as an auxiliary treatment for peptic ulcers in situations where rapid anticholinergic action is needed or when oral administration is difficult. This medication is effective in various situations, helping to ensure the safety and recovery of patients.
