Treatment of urinary tract infections (pyelonephritis, cystitis) and skin infections
This medication is effective against various bacteria such as beta-hemolytic streptococci, penicillinase-producing staphylococci, pneumococci, and Escherichia coli, and is used in urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis, cystitis, and urethritis. It is also widely used to treat skin and soft tissue infections, pharyngitis, and tonsillitis. It helps effectively improve the symptoms of patients by responding to various bacterial infections.
1) Urinary tract infections: For uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections (such as cystitis), administer 1-2 g (potency) of cefadroxil orally in 1-2 divided doses per day. For other urinary tract infections, administer 2 g (potency) in two divided doses per day. 2) Skin and soft tissue infections: Administer 1 g (potency) orally in 1-2 divided doses per day. 3) Pharyngitis, tonsillitis: For pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by beta-hemolytic streptococcal infections, administer 1 g (potency) daily in 1-2 divided doses for 10 days.
1) Urinary tract infections, skin, and soft tissue infections: Administer 30 mg (potency) per kg body weight, orally in two divided doses per day. 2) Pharyngitis, tonsillitis: Administer 30 mg (potency) per kg body weight, orally in 1-2 divided doses per day.
This medication should not be used in patients who have previously experienced a severe allergic reaction or shock due to this drug. It is also safe to avoid administration in patients with a history of allergy to cephalosporin antibiotics and in those with infectious mononucleosis. Caution should be exercised when administering this drug to individuals with a history of allergies, particularly those who have had hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin antibiotics. Attention is also required for individuals with a family history prone to allergies such as asthma, rashes, or hives. Patients with severely impaired kidney function, those who have difficulty swallowing, elderly individuals, and those with poor overall health should be monitored closely when using this medication. Due to the risk of bleeding from vitamin K deficiency, it is necessary to carefully check the patient's condition. Patients with gastrointestinal diseases, particularly those with a history of colitis, should use this medication with caution. Rarely, this drug may cause severe shock or various allergic reactions; if any abnormal symptoms occur, administration should be immediately halted, and appropriate medical treatment sought. Regular tests are required as changes in blood cell counts or liver and kidney function may occur. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain may occur, and if severe colitis symptoms appear, the medication should be stopped immediately. Respiratory symptoms may include interstitial pneumonia or pulmonary infiltration, requiring prompt treatment if related symptoms manifest. Oral inflammation or candidiasis, central nervous system symptoms (dizziness, drowsiness, headache, etc.), and skin reactions (including Stevens-Johnson syndrome) have also been reported, warranting careful observation. Long-term use may result in symptoms of vitamin deficiency and bleeding tendency; blood tests should be carried out if necessary to check the condition. To prevent the emergence of resistant strains, it is crucial to use this medication for an appropriate duration determined by susceptibility testing. If an allergic reaction is suspected, administration should be immediately halted, and appropriate treatment, such as oxygen supply, intravenous fluids, antihistamines, or corticosteroids, should be provided. In patients with impaired kidney function, dosage adjustment is necessary, and caution should be exercised as neurological symptoms such as seizures may occur. The risk of renal dysfunction may increase when used in combination with other nephrotoxic agents or diuretics, thus careful administration is required. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication if the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. Nursing mothers should also use this medication cautiously. Elderly individuals are at a higher risk of adverse reactions due to decreased bodily functions, thus careful observation while adjusting dosage and administration intervals is crucial. This medication may affect some clinical test results, and it is advisable to inform the healthcare personnel during tests. Lastly, this medication may rarely cause photosensitivity reactions, so caution should be exercised to avoid excessive sun exposure.
