This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, patients who have had severe allergic reactions or shock due to this medication, those who are allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics, and patients with infectious mononucleosis should not be administered this drug. Furthermore, caution should be exercised in patients with a history of allergic reactions, those who are hypersensitive to penicillin antibiotics, patients with a family history of allergic disposition, those with severely impaired kidney function, patients who have difficulty with oral ingestion, the elderly, patients in poor general condition, and patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders. This medication can rarely cause severe allergic reactions or shock, so if any unusual symptoms occur, administration should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be sought. Symptoms such as skin rash, hives, itching, fever, and difficulty breathing may occur, so caution is required. Side effects may include decreased blood cell count, liver dysfunction, kidney impairment, gastrointestinal symptoms like gastroenteritis or diarrhea, respiratory issues, stomatitis, dizziness, headache, and symptoms of vitamin K deficiency. Particularly, severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome can occur, so skin conditions should be closely monitored. It is also important to regularly check blood, kidney, and liver function if this medication is used for extended periods. In patients with reduced kidney function, dose adjustment may be necessary, and administration should be stopped immediately if seizures occur. When used with other nephrotoxic medications or diuretics, there may be an increased risk of kidney damage, so caution is necessary. Additionally, co-administration with probenecid can increase this medication's concentration in the body, so caution is warranted. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this medication when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been sufficiently confirmed. Nursing women should also use it with caution. Elderly patients may experience side effects more readily due to decreased body function, and there may be an increased bleeding tendency due to vitamin K deficiency; therefore, dosages and intervals should be carefully adjusted. This medication may affect the results of some clinical tests, so this should be taken into consideration during testing. Lastly, this medication can cause photosensitivity, so caution is needed when going outside.
