This medication helps relieve difficulty in expectoration associated with acute and chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, and pharyngitis. It also effectively improves drainage in chronic sinusitis, alleviating symptoms. It is used for these conditions to assist patients' respiratory health.

How to take

Adult dose

Based on 375 mg, adults take an initial dose of 750 mg three times a day, and once symptoms improve, take 375 mg four times a day. Based on 500 mg, adults take 500 mg three times a day.

Child dose

For children, carbocisteine is taken in divided doses of 20-30 mg per kg of body weight per day. For children aged 7 years to under 12 years, the dosage is 150-300 mg three times a day.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by patients with ulcers in the stomach or duodenum. People who have allergic reactions to this medication or its ingredients should also avoid taking it. Individuals with a history of stomach or duodenal ulcers should also consult a specialist before use. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal bloating, gastrointestinal bleeding, heartburn, loss of appetite, diarrhea, dry mouth occur during treatment, discontinue use immediately and consult a professional. If allergic reactions such as skin rash, red spots, or eczema appear, stop taking the medication and consult a doctor. Symptoms such as headache or nasal congestion may occasionally occur, and one should also watch out for itching, palpitations, runny nose, and general pressure. If serious skin conditions, liver function impairment, or shock symptoms occur, stop taking the medication immediately and consult medical personnel. If a cough lasts more than 2 weeks, it is advisable to seek professional advice. In case of overdose, gastric lavage is helpful, and gastrointestinal disturbances are the most common side effects.
