Treatment of infections such as streptococci
This medication is used in the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is effective for skin infections such as boils, abscesses, cellulitis, and impetigo, as well as for secondary infections following wounds or surgery. It also helps in treating upper respiratory infections such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, otitis media, and sinusitis, as well as lower respiratory infections like pneumonia and bronchitis. It is used for urinary tract infections such as pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, and also effective against specific infectious diseases like scarlet fever. Additionally, it is widely used for the treatment of peritonitis, liver abscess, typhoid fever, osteomyelitis, and intrauterine infections. Therefore, this medication is used for the treatment of various bacterial infections.
For adults and children weighing 20 kg or more, the dosage is 250–500 mg (as amoxicillin) orally 3 times daily.
For children weighing less than 20 kg, the dosage is 20–40 mg per kg of body weight divided into 3 oral doses daily.
This medication may cause allergic reactions, thus it should not be used in patients who are hypersensitive to this drug or to penicillin antibiotics, or have experienced severe allergic reactions in the past. Additionally, it should be used cautiously in patients with specific diseases or those with a history of allergies, and the administration interval should be adjusted for patients with severely impaired kidney function. While taking this drug, serious allergic reactions or shock may rarely occur, so if symptoms such as discomfort, skin rash, or difficulty breathing arise, administration should be stopped immediately and medical consultation should be sought. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; if severe abdominal pain or blood in the stool appears, the drug should be discontinued. This drug can affect the liver and kidneys, so regular liver function and kidney function tests are necessary, and any abnormal symptoms should be reported immediately. Moreover, long-term use of this medication can disrupt the normal bacterial balance in the body, leading to secondary infections. Caution is also needed for patients with allergies to specific dye components, and elderly patients or those with poor nutritional status may show signs of vitamin deficiency, requiring observation. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should carefully consider the use of this drug after consulting with a physician, as its safety has not been conclusively established. This drug may interact with other medications, so it is essential to inform healthcare providers of any currently taken medications. Overdose may cause kidney damage, so the prescribed dosage must be strictly adhered to, and patients' conditions should be closely monitored after administration.
Urticaria, shock, serum sickness-like reactions (urticaria or skin rash accompanied by fever), Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, fever, headache, arthritis, erythema and vesicles of the skin and mucous membranes, pustules, tension, burning, and pain in the skin, jaundice, altered consciousness, aseptic meningitis, acute renal failure, crystalluria, shock (severe allergic reaction), severe rash, blisters, skin peeling, pain in mucous membranes of mouth/eyes, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
Oral dysbiosis, wheezing, dizziness, changes in stool consistency, tinnitus, fever, rash, serum sickness-like reactions (arthritis, arthralgia, myalgia), hypersensitivity vasculitis, erythema multiforme, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, frequent diarrhea, eosinophilia, agranulocytosis, anemia, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, leukopenia, prolonged prothrombin time, reversible hyperactivity, agitation, anxiety, insomnia, confusion, behavioral changes, antiparkinsonian effects.

This medication should be stored in a dry place to avoid moisture and placed in a tightly sealed container to prevent air exposure. The storage temperature should be maintained at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C.
