Relief of headaches induced by tension, supportive effect for respiratory depression caused by alcohol and morphine overdose
This medication helps relieve headaches caused by spinal nerve stimulation. It is also used to stimulate breathing in cases of respiratory depression due to alcohol or morphine poisoning.
Administer 100 to 500 mg of sodium benzoate caffeine as a single intramuscular or subcutaneous injection. In emergencies, intravenous administration may be performed. Adjust the dose as appropriate based on symptoms.
This medication is provided in glass ampoules, so care must be taken when opening the ampoule to avoid glass fragments entering the body. Extra caution is especially needed when used by children or the elderly. Patients with a history of peptic ulcers, heart disease, glaucoma, and those who have had allergic reactions to this medication should exercise caution when using it. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea may occur with this medication, and cardiovascular symptoms such as rapid heartbeat or irregular heartbeat may also arise. In the central nervous system, symptoms such as insomnia, excitement, tremors, dizziness, dilated pupils, flashes of light in vision, tinnitus, and anxiety may appear. Additionally, symptoms can worsen in patients with chronic glaucoma. Patients with depression may experience exacerbated symptoms if they overdose on this medication, so the single dose should be limited to less than 1 gram. When using this medication along with other drugs, attention should be paid to interactions. Use with xanthine drugs or central nervous system stimulants can intensify the state of excitement, and use with MAO inhibitors can lead to increased heart rate or elevated blood pressure. Co-administration with cimetidine can also enhance the effects of caffeine. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid prolonged use of this medication, as caffeine can be transmitted through the placenta and breast milk. Elderly individuals should be especially cautious due to decreased body function, including potentially reducing the dose. In cases of overdose, serious symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, arrhythmia, increased blood pressure, seizures, coma, and respiratory distress may occur, and immediate medical attention is required for treatment such as fluid therapy, central nervous system depressants, and respiratory management. When administering intravenously, the injection speed should be adjusted slowly, and a thin needle should be used. When administering intramuscularly or subcutaneously, avoid areas where nerves pass through, and alternate injection sites with repeated injections. If severe pain or blood reflux occurs during injection, the needle should be immediately withdrawn and the injection should be performed at another site.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication should be stored in a sealed container to prevent air from entering and is best kept at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will safely maintain the medication's efficacy.
