Precautions

This medication is an antidepressant used to treat psychiatric disorders such as major depression. When administered to children, adolescents, and young adults aged 18 to 24, there is an increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behaviors, so the physician must carefully assess the necessity and risks of treatment. While using this medication, symptoms such as anxiety, agitation, aggression, and insomnia may occur in addition to suicidal tendencies, so patients and caregivers should closely monitor these changes. Patients with heart disease, glaucoma, benign prostatic hyperplasia, arrhythmias, or liver dysfunction should not use this medication or should use it very cautiously. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult with their doctor before taking this medication, and nursing mothers are advised to avoid breastfeeding while using it. As this medication may interact with other drugs, especially MAO inhibitors, alcohol, heart-related medications, certain antibiotics, and psychiatric drugs, patients must inform their doctor if they are taking any of these. During treatment with this medication, regular blood tests and electrocardiograms may be necessary, and if any unusual symptoms occur, patients should consult healthcare professionals immediately. Severe side effects may occur in case of overdose, so it should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children. The therapeutic effect typically appears between 4 to 10 days, but it may take more than 6 weeks in some cases, so it is important to continue taking the medication steadily.
