This medication is used to relieve respiratory symptoms such as cough and phlegm.

How to take

Adult dose

For adults and adolescents aged 15 and over: 20mL once, taken orally 3 to 4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Child dose

For those aged 12 to less than 15 years: 13mL once, taken orally 3 to 4 times a day after meals and at bedtime.

Precautions

This medication is not recommended for obese patients under 18 years of age, patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, or patients with severe lung disease due to an increased risk of severe respiratory depression. Patients who have had allergic reactions to this medication or its components, those currently taking or recently discontinued MAO inhibitors, children under 12 years of age, breastfeeding women, patients with glaucoma, or patients with lower urinary tract obstructive diseases such as prostate enlargement should not use this medication. Individuals with allergic tendencies or a history of drug hypersensitivity, those with impaired liver or kidney function, individuals with thyroid disease or diabetes, cardiovascular disease patients, the elderly, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as those with increased intraocular pressure or urination difficulties should use this medication with caution. Additionally, smokers, individuals with asthma or chronic bronchitis, those with persistent cough lasting more than a week or recurrent cough, certain gastrointestinal disease patients, and epilepsy patients should also use this medication with caution. This medication may cause drowsiness; thus, it is safer to avoid driving or operating machinery while using it, and it is not advisable to overdose or use it long-term. It should not be taken concurrently with other cough suppressants, cold medications, antihistamines, or sedatives, and drowsiness may be intensified when taken with alcohol or central nervous system depressants. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should carefully consider the benefits and risks of using this medication, especially avoiding use during breastfeeding. In children, serious side effects may occur in the case of overdose, so this medication should not be used in children under 12 years of age. The elderly may have diminished bodily functions; therefore, their condition should be closely monitored when using this medication. This medication can affect the results of some clinical tests, so it is important to inform the doctor or pharmacist before testing. In the case of overdose, central nervous system disturbances, seizures, breathing difficulties, and cardiac issues may occur, and immediate medical treatment should be sought.
