Relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (hay fever, rhinitis) and pruritic skin conditions (eczema, etc.)
This medication is used for symptoms of pollen allergy rhinitis, urticaria, pruritic skin disorders (eczema, dermatitis, drug rash), allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, and sneezing, runny nose, cough, vasomotor swelling caused by colds.
Administer chlorpheniramine maleate orally at a dose of 2-6 mg every 1-2 times a day. Do not exceed 24 mg per day.
This medication should not be taken by individuals who have had allergic reactions to specific drugs or compounds. Patients with glaucoma, which increases eye pressure, or those with urinary retention due to prostatic hyperplasia should also avoid use. Infants, newborns, and those taking certain antidepressants known as MAO inhibitors should also refrain from using it. Drowsiness may occur during use, so one should avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. Children under 3 years old, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and elderly individuals should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. Caution is needed for those with high eye pressure, excessive thyroid activity, or gastrointestinal issues. It is also advisable for individuals with heart or hypertension-related conditions, asthma, or neurological disorders like epilepsy to consult with a specialist. If difficulty breathing, chest discomfort, low blood pressure shock symptoms, convulsions, severe skin rashes, or allergic symptoms occur after taking the medication, discontinue use immediately and consult healthcare professionals. Additionally, various side effects may occur, including mental confusion, insomnia, dizziness, headache, digestive symptoms such as indigestion or vomiting, abdominal pain, symptoms of urinary retention, heart rhythm abnormalities, respiratory issues, blood abnormalities, liver function decline, and more, so caution is necessary. When taking this medication, caution is advised as combining it with alcohol or central nervous system depressants may increase drowsiness. Furthermore, this medication may interfere with the metabolism of other drugs leading to toxicity, so it should be taken according to professional advice. In case of overdose, severe toxicity symptoms may arise; emergency measures such as inducing vomiting or gastric lavage may be necessary. Finally, this medication must be kept out of reach of children and stored in its original container to prevent misuse or degradation of quality.
