A study has been published showing that sitting for long periods while working is more harmful to health than smoking.

 

On the 1st (local time), the British daily Mirror reported, citing a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, that "people who sit for long hours at work need to stand for more than 2 hours a day to maintain a healthy life."

 

According to research, people who sit for long periods while working are more likely to develop obesity, cancer, and diabetes, and they also experience serious strain on their back and neck.

In particular, the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease doubles, the risk of developing cancer increases by 13%, and the risk of premature death rises by 17%.

 

The research team warned of the danger, stating that "this is a figure higher than the negative effects of smoking on the human body."

He emphasized that "you should stand for at least 2 hours a day" and advised, "Even while sitting, adjust the desk height to suit yourself and maintain proper posture."

 

Meanwhile, in May, a research team from the University of Utah School of Medicine in the United States announced a study finding that just walking for two minutes every hour while sitting can reduce the risk of death by 33%.

      일어나려니 다리가 아프고 안움직여 놀랜적 있었는데
