There are teas commonly called "health teas." These teas are enjoyed by many people because they have various health benefits such as promoting restful sleep or aiding in weight loss.

 

Tea is a wonderful beverage on its own, but mixing it with various herbs allows you to enjoy a richer flavor and aroma.

 

However, the problem arises when people drink tea instead of water altogether. Health teas each have their own health benefits, and this behavior stems from the belief that these benefits will be quickly felt depending on the amount consumed. Some grain teas, such as barley tea, can be consumed instead of water, but there are also teas that should not be drunk like water. In particular, although tea contains many beneficial ingredients due to its nature, excessive consumption can actually be harmful to health. Therefore, I will introduce three types of teas that should not be consumed instead of water.

 

Green tea · Black tea

Green tea and black tea are caffeinated beverages and should not be consumed instead of water. Caffeine promotes diuretic effects, leading to faster excretion of body fluids, which can actually cause dehydration. Additionally, excessive intake of caffeine can induce symptoms such as gastrointestinal discomfort, anxiety, and insomnia. It is especially recommended to drink green tea and black tea in the morning or after lunch.

 

Corn Silk Tea

Corn silk tea is famous for its detoxifying effects, but excessive consumption can strain the kidneys. This is due to components such as polyphenols and flavonoids that promote diuretic action. There is also a risk of dehydration caused by excessive diuretic effects.

 

Hutgae tea

Hutgae tea is a beverage loved by many for its savory taste and aroma. However, excessive consumption can put a strain on the liver. Consuming excessive amounts of compounds such as amperopisin and hovenin found in the hawthorn tree can lead to impaired liver function. Hutgae tea is often consumed with the expectation of detoxification after heavy drinking, but it is important to maintain an appropriate amount.

 

Healthy tea is very beneficial in itself, but everything works best when consumed in moderation. You should drink enough water daily, and tea should serve as a supplementary aid.
