I have been smoking for over 20 years, even before I joined the military.
During my peak smoking period, I would smoke a pack a day, barely enough, while working at my desk. By the time I left work, I was a heavy smoker to the point of chest pain.

It was the same for me.

That was a story from back then.
It was a time when we would smoke cigarettes, extinguish them in an ashtray, gather documents, and have lengthy conversations, explaining and discussing before getting approval.
Since my position has changed and I have become a team leader leading a team with team members
Several people come to get approval, exchange conversations, and by chance, the bad breath emanating from a smoker's mouth...
I encountered a truly unbearable, foul smell that I couldn't describe.
The motivation to quit smoking, which started with the thought, "This smell must be so strong that I can smell it myself," has been provided.

Starting with "Let's quit smoking," I begin this challenging journey to quit smoking.
I received acupuncture for quitting smoking in my ear and entered a 3-night, 4-day meditation retreat at Tongdosa Temple to create an opportunity, so I started quitting smoking for now.
At first, it's really hard. All I can see is cigarettes~~
Anyone can start; action is important...
I have been successfully quitting smoking for seven years now, despite the difficulty and challenges I faced.
A few summaries of my experiences
1. Reducing the amount of smoking and then quitting?? It's impossible. You must start with zero cigarettes.
A few months after quitting smoking, alcohol becomes toxic—after drinking, I often think about smoking excessively (must resist temptation at all costs).
2. You should not create things that make you angry. Do not cause anger with colleagues, spouses, or children.
When angry, he first looks for a cigarette, saying, "Hey C8, give me a cigarette," (please explain and ask for cooperation in advance).
3. When it was really hard to endure, I thought, 'Let's just blow out one candle and end it'... It was devastating.
It is as if we are going back to the beginning. It won't work. No matter how many days or months pass, the moment we give up, all the effort so far becomes meaningless.
4. I really like the smell of cigarettes.. The smoke that goes in and out of the mouth is disgusting, but the smell of burning itself.. is deadly.
Do you know how long temptation lasts? It lasts for over three years.. Until then, the smell of cigarette smoke is really pleasant.
Currently, Japan (they still smoke in hotel rooms), but in our country, smoking and non-smoking areas are designated and operated separately.
It will be a little helpful.
6. In a way, cigarettes are extremely persistent, and if there is even a slight gap or weakness, they will relentlessly invade.
Is it like a creature that conquers by attacking?
I believe that overcoming that is the key to quitting smoking.
In conclusion..
Create a sense of obligation, motivation, and reasons for why quitting smoking is necessary (this is important).
No matter what reason or excuse arises after starting to quit smoking, if you smoke even once, all the efforts you've made to quit will be lost, and you won't be able to continue abstaining from smoking. Therefore, it is advised to start with complete abstinence from the beginning.
Cigarettes are so frightening.

I shared a brief account of my hard-earned experience.
Do not start smoking, and if you do, quit immediately...
In a nutshell, I believe it's important to create motivation to break away and to forcibly and strongly put it into practice.
