I wasn't even 40 years old. I hurriedly searched for a thyroid specialist hospital that was reputed to be good at it: Severance Hospital, Kosin University Hospital, Korea University Anam Hospital, etc. There were so many choices to make: open surgery or robotic surgery. After touring the hospitals, the last one I decided to visit was Gangnam Yes Surgery Clinic! At Severance, I met Dr. Jang Ho-jin, a renowned thyroid cancer surgeon, and learned that they offer minimally invasive incision surgery, so I knew this was the place for me. University hospitals would schedule an appointment for 2-3 months, and the surgery would be 2-3 months later, which only made me more anxious and worried that the cancer would grow. However, Gangnam Yes Surgery Clinic scheduled the appointment a week after my inquiry, and quickly set the surgery date a month after the appointment.
The surgery was as short and quick as possible, and discharge was possible the next day, with no unusual complications. This was probably a good thing in my case, but I was able to complete the procedure with a smaller, less invasive procedure, resecting only about a third of the tumor. And the ultrasound scan three months after the surgery also showed a clean result. There are many renowned thyroid cancer surgeons nationwide, but I highly recommend Dr. Jang Ho-jin of Yes Surgery.
