Hospital Introduction

This is a review of LASIK surgery done at GS Eye Clinic.

GS Eye Clinic is located right in front of Gangnam Station in Seoul.

As you can see in the picture, it is right in front of Gangnam Station, so it is very convenient to commute as it only takes 1-2 minutes.

The reason I got LASIK at GS Eye Clinic is:

My family had LASIK surgery here.

My family told me that this eye clinic had good reviews for LASIK, so I had the surgery there first and recommended it to myself. So, I also got LASIK surgery at this eye clinic on their recommendation!

There are a total of 7 ophthalmologists in the ophthalmology department, and I felt more confident because I heard that the doctors and their families had also undergone surgery.

LASIK reviews

Before you undergo LASIK surgery, you will first undergo an examination. (The examination is free.)

This inspection was a very well-organized manual that followed a well-organized process.

 

After the examination, we give the patient a pamphlet with the results so that they can understand the condition of their eyes.

This result sheet explains it in great detail.

While explaining things, he made sure I had no other questions and told me to feel comfortable asking any questions I had.

I have thin corneas and severe myopia, so I even received optional corneal strengthening surgery!

(I had negative vision before the surgery ㅠ.ㅠ)

 

After the examination, I was given anesthetic eye drops and had a sticker with brief personal information attached to my clothes. After waiting for a while, I was taken into the operating room.

 

When you lie on the operating table, the nurse tells you to look at the laser dots on the screen.

He said, "If the focus of that laser is even slightly off, look at the dot!"

When I open my eyes and get LASIK, I feel like I'm blinking without realizing it, so they tell me to hold on for a little while...

And it smelled a bit like burning squid.

The surgery was incredibly short. It really felt like... 5 minutes? Maybe 10 at most.

After finishing, I took a short break in the waiting room, and then left the hospital after paying my bills.

 

 

Review on the day of surgery

The advantage of LASIK is that your vision improves immediately after the surgery and you can return to your daily life.

Amazingly enough! I was able to see straight after the surgery.

Of course, it's a little blurry, but I also experienced a new world where I could see the text in front of me without glasses or contact lenses.

And even after the anesthesia wore off, there was absolutely no pain and I felt completely fine.

As soon as I got home, I put in the eye drops I got from the hospital.

Antibiotics are taken 4 times a day: morning/lunch/dinner/before bed.

Anti-inflammatory medication every 2 hours, autologous serum eye drops every hour

I set the alarm to go off every hour because I had to put it in.

The nurse gave me a detailed explanation of these things.

The staff were all friendly and kind, and there wasn't a single one who was rude.

The examiner who examined me on the same day, All the nurses in the operating room were kind.

and They said I shouldn't sleep for 3-4 hours after surgery.

I'm sleepy because I was told to blink as much as possible I held on tight and turned on YouTube Radio to hold on.

Even after some time had passed, there was no pain, only dryness and a foreign body sensation!

Daily life after surgery

I think the advantage of SMILE LASIK is its really fast recovery.

I was really fine and went about my daily life as usual a week after the surgery.

Once you wake up, you don't have to look for your glasses, and you don't need the contact lenses and artificial tears that were a fixed expense every month.

I like that I can see letters far away even with my bare eyes!!

 

In my case, there were no side effects and my eyesight improved significantly, so I am 200% satisfied with SMILE LASIK.

I received it at a famous and crowded hospital, so I was worried about the aftercare.

I liked that the doctor who performed the surgery gave me regular checkups and examined me thoroughly every time I went.

 

And I also liked that after the surgery, they automatically scheduled regular checkups and sent me notifications via KakaoTalk, so I never forgot.

Except in cases where the schedule of the ophthalmologist you meet for a checkup does not match, I think the director who performed the surgery is trying to get the best treatment possible.

The director explained things so well and gently that I received good treatment without any discomfort every time I went.

 

These days, there are a lot of advertisements for surgeries like LASIK and LASEK.

I filtered out places that were advertised through Instagram ads or featured celebrities.

I chose GS because it was the most trustworthy place where my family received the product directly and it had a lot of reviews that weren't advertisements.

Even if a blog says it's a review written with my own money, there are many cases where there is a banner saying that they received support, so you should search carefully and filter out the ones you want to filter out.
