Is healing tape the answer for after-mole removal care?

I finally mustered the courage to have a mole removed, but the aftercare is so difficult. How long do I need to keep the healing tape on? Please let me know if you have any secrets to prevent scarring. I want to take good care of my skin and get back to how beautiful it is!
