Optimal timing for orthodontic treatment

My second son is 11 years old, and his front teeth, as well as his upper teeth, are not aligned properly. His baby teeth were really straight and beautiful...

When I was 7 years old, I was playing and hit my tooth hard, causing one of my front teeth to fall out completely with the root. Since then, I stayed in a gap for about a year and a half until my permanent tooth came in, and maybe because of that, the neighboring teeth started to grow crooked... and my face is also very small.

I want to get braces, but I wonder if I'm too young... and I also worry whether the child can endure wearing braces.

Is it always better to go early if I want to get orthodontic treatment?
