Elementary school upper grades dental clinic

Now in sixth grade, it's really exhausting to take my child to the pediatric dentist that's a bit far every time for checkups.

I want to remove tartar from the inside of my lower teeth, can I go to a general dentist?! When did your children stop visiting the pediatric dentist for treatment?!
