Even if my teeth look clean, do I need to get a separate gum examination?

I thought that when I go to the dentist, I usually just need to check if I have cavities.

However, recently I heard that it is important to check the condition of the gums separately as well.

Until now, I always thought that even if I bled a little while brushing my teeth, it was just because I was using the toothbrush too hard.
I heard that even with symptoms like this, there are cases where you need to check the condition of your gums.

I am wondering if it is advisable to get an examination if I repeatedly experience swollen or bleeding gums, even without any specific pain.

I thought I only needed to take care of the visible parts of my teeth, but...
It seems there are more things to check than I thought.
