Did you go straight to work after having your wisdom teeth extracted?

I was told I need to have an impacted wisdom tooth extracted, so I am trying to schedule an appointment.
I'm debating whether I can go to work the very next day or if it would be better to take a day off.
For those of you who have had a tooth extracted, how long did it take to recover?
