Is a gum graft necessary or not?

During orthodontic treatment, the gum around one tooth has receded significantly, exposing the tooth.

You said that even a gum graft was possible if necessary, but I was scared and thought, "Is it really necessary...?" so I said I wouldn't do the gum graft.
