A difficult task for those who drink coffee every day!!

Baek Ji-yeon, a self-proclaimed coffee fanatic, said, "As I reached my 50s and 60s, coffee started to affect my health and sleep," and "I thought I should cut back, so I limited myself to three cups a day." She continued, "Then I made a big decision to try quitting for just a month, but I ended up going over three months," and "Since three months felt a bit ambiguous, I set a goal of 100 days, and today I successfully completed 100 days without coffee." Baek Ji-yeon explained that the reason for quitting coffee was "deteriorating sleep quality and stomach discomfort," and "Actually, I had been told by doctors to quit coffee for a while."

✔️ "My sleep quality has improved," he said. He added, "Once I passed my mid-50s, I would wake up in the middle of the night, but after quitting coffee, that stopped."

✔️ "The second is that my stomach feels more comfortable," he said, "My stomach is weak, but the frequency of stomach discomfort has significantly decreased."

✔️ "The third is that during the 100 days of quitting coffee, the number of times I took headache medicine decreased to 2-3 times."

✔️ "The fourth is that I think about desserts much less," he said, "Everyone knows that sugar spikes aren't good these days, and it seems like the number of times I eat desserts has decreased by about 80%."

Coffee can lead to insomnia

Caffeine suppresses adenosine, which causes fatigue, and induces an alertness effect. When consumed in appropriate amounts, it can be helpful, but excessive intake can lead to exaggerated effects, potentially resulting in anxiety or insomnia.

 

Drinking coffee frequently is harmful to stomach health.

Caffeine, fatty acids, and other stimulating substances in coffee can attack the stomach lining, leading to gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis, gastric ulcers, and irritable bowel syndrome. When in a fasting state, the stomach secretes a large amount of gastric acid, and caffeine in coffee further stimulates acid secretion.

 

◇ Coffee may interfere with appetite hormones, leading to excessive dessert consumption

Drinking too much coffee raises cortisol levels, the stress hormone. When cortisol is secreted in large amounts, it interferes with the function of leptin, a hormone that suppresses appetite. As a result, you may find yourself craving desserts or other foods even when you're not hungry. Moreover, drinking coffee after a meal can cause the beneficial nutrients consumed during the meal to be lost. The tannin and caffeine components in coffee hinder iron absorption.

      하루에 세잔까지는 괜찮다고는 하는데 
      저는 세잔도 과하다 싶긴해요.
      되도록 디카페인으로 마시려구요~
