Which two dietary supplements did the American pharmacist explicitly state they would "never take"?

Supplements are important~

Among them, I also took a multivitamin, but rather, it was due to taking the multivitamin that

It is said that certain nutrients can become excessive.

I think the best thing is to supplement all the necessary nutrients through a balanced diet.

Vitamin jelly is popular because it is easy to eat and has a delicious taste.

It is said that since it contains a lot of sugar, it is better not to consume it.

It's important to carefully consider supplements and choose what suits me best.

Even if you take supplements for health management, excess is harmful. Through Fox News in the United States, British pharmacist Amina Khan shared a supplement she does not take, causing a stir. What could it be?

First, it is a multivitamin. Pharmacist Amina Khan said, "Most people can supplement all necessary nutrients through a balanced diet," and "On the contrary, taking multivitamins can lead to an excess of certain nutrients." When the blood levels of fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamin A and vitamin E, which are not excreted from the body, increase, side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite may occur.

Pharmacist Kan said, "Supplements that advertise as simultaneously solving hair, skin, and nail health may also have limited actual effectiveness." This is because the amount and type of nutrients needed vary for each area, making it impossible to achieve the same effect for everyone. For example, nail weakness may be related to zinc deficiency, but skin problems could be caused by a lack of vitamin C or collagen. On the other hand, hair loss may be associated with iron deficiency, biotin, or hormonal imbalances. However, supplements sold on the market contain fixed ratios of nutrients, making it difficult to precisely address individual deficiencies and risking over-supplying unnecessary ingredients. Pharmacist Kan said, "It is more effective to accurately identify individual deficiencies and take only the necessary nutrients in a customized manner."

He also did not recommend vitamin gummies. While they are convenient and tasty ways to intake nutrients, the reason is that they can have a high sugar content. Most vitamin gummies contain added sugar or high-fructose corn syrup to produce a sweet taste, leading to an intake of more sugar than expected when consumed excessively. Excessive sugar intake can cause health problems such as weight gain and elevated blood sugar levels. Pharmacist Kan said, "Since vitamin gummies are tasty and easy to consume, people often take more than the necessary amount, exceeding the daily recommended intake," and "In such cases, there is a risk of side effects from vitamin overdose."
