▷Using blue tableware = Blue reduces appetite. Japanese color scientist Professor Junichi Nomura revealed through research that experimental participants experienced a decrease in appetite when viewing blue and purple. This is because psychologically, blue is associated with toxins or bitterness. Historically, our brains have learned to avoid foods that are blue, such as poisonous mushrooms, unripe fruits, or moldy spoiled foods. Therefore, the brain naturally exhibits rejection responses to these foods and colors. There is another reason why blue suppresses appetite. The area of the brain that processes visual stimuli is separate, and it is known that the brain makes the most rational judgments when perceiving blue. In other words, the function that controls emotions becomes more active, leading to a reduced desire for food.

 

Getting enough sunlight = The vitamin D synthesized when exposed to sunlight also promotes weight loss. A joint research team from the University of Athens Medical School in Greece and Agia Sophia Children's Hospital studied the correlation between vitamin D and weight loss in 232 obese adolescents. The research team provided vitamin D supplements to the participants for one year. After one year, analysis of the vitamin D levels, body fat, liver function, and heart health of the subjects revealed that adolescents taking vitamin D supplements experienced a significant reduction in body mass index and body fat.

 

Eat slowly and chew thoroughly

To lose weight, it is recommended to eat slowly and chew thoroughly. It is advisable to take about 20 minutes to finish a meal. When we eat, our body secretes the hormone 'leptin' to induce a feeling of fullness. However, it takes about 20 minutes for leptin to be secreted, so if we eat quickly before that, there is no way to prevent overeating, and weight gain occurs easily. Chewing slowly also triggers 'DIT (Diet Induced Thermogenesis),' which is the thermogenic effect of food. DIT refers to the phenomenon where energy expenditure increases even after resting following a meal. Generally, about 10-15% of the energy consumed during a meal is used for DIT.

 

 

Do not eat too salty

Salty foods induce thirst, which naturally leads to drinking more beverages such as cola and other sugar-added drinks besides water, resulting in an overall increase in calorie intake. Additionally, sodium stimulates opioid receptors in the brain that are associated with pleasure, so eating salty foods often leads to consuming more than usual, increasing total calorie intake. Most salty foods are also high in calories. This is a direct path to obesity, which causes widespread inflammation throughout the body. The inflammation caused by obesity travels through blood vessels, damaging various parts of the body.

 

▷Walking for 30 minutes every day

Walking exercise helps with dieting. When you walk, sugars in the muscles and glucose in the blood are consumed as energy. Once all the sugars are used up, fat is burned as energy, leading to a reduction in fat. As a result of a 12-week walking program operated by the Korea National Park Service, when participants walked an average of about 12 km more than 2-3 times a week, their average body mass index decreased by 0.23 kg/m².
