What does it do?

Carbimazole is an antithyroid agent that inhibits the excessive production of thyroid hormones. It is used to regulate the secretion of thyroid hormones in patients with hyperthyroidism.

Carbimazole reduces the amount of hormone produced by interfering with the process in which iodine is used to synthesize thyroid hormones in the thyroid gland. As a result, thyroid function is normalized and symptoms are alleviated.
