What does it do?

Melphalan is an anticancer agent belonging to the alkylating agent class, primarily used for the treatment of hematological cancers and solid tumors. It is included in medications for the purpose of interfering with the proliferation of cancer cells by binding to the DNA of the cells.

Melphalan binds to the DNA of cancer cells and cross-links the DNA strands. This disrupts the normal division and proliferation processes of cancer cells, thereby inhibiting tumor growth.
