What does it do?

Ondansetron belongs to the class of serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It is primarily used to prevent and relieve vomiting and nausea caused by chemotherapy or surgery.

Ondansetron works by blocking the 5-HT3 receptors in the brain and gastrointestinal tract, thus preventing the transmission of vomiting signals. As a result, the vomiting center is not stimulated, reducing nausea and vomiting.
