What does it do?

Lacosamide is an antiepileptic ingredient that acts on the nervous system and is used for the prevention and treatment of seizures, including partial seizures. It aims to reduce the occurrence of seizures by regulating excessive excitation of nerve cells.

Lacosamide regulates specific ion channels to stabilize the electrical activity of nerve cells. This prevents nerve cells from becoming excessively excited, thereby preventing the occurrence of seizures.

Commonly used for

Approved uses differ by product. Check each product's information for its actual use.

Good to know

Unlike conventional antiepileptics, lacosamide uniquely modulates the voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve cells, resulting in its effectiveness. As a result, there tends to be relatively less interaction when combined with other antiepileptics.
