What does it do?

Exemestane is an anticancer agent that belongs to the class of aromatase inhibitors. It is primarily used for the treatment of hormone-dependent breast cancer in postmenopausal women. This agent reduces estrogen production in the body, thus inhibiting the growth of cancer cells.

Exemestane inhibits the enzyme aromatase, blocking the process of estrogen production. Since estrogen promotes the growth of some breast cancer cells, reducing estrogen production with this agent can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells.
