What does it do?

Everolimus is a drug with immunosuppressive and anti-cancer effects that plays a role in blocking signaling pathways that regulate cell growth and proliferation. It is mainly used in cancer treatment and for regulating immune responses after transplantation.

Everolimus prevents cancer cells from growing or dividing by inhibiting the activity of a specific protein complex within the cell known as mTOR. It also regulates excessive activation of immune cells, thereby modulating the immune response.

Good to know

Compared to similar mTOR inhibitors, Everolimus is effective against certain types of cancer and has the unique ability to exhibit both immunosuppressive and anti-cancer effects simultaneously. Unlike other immunosuppressants, its mechanism of action involves directly blocking signals for cell growth.
