What does it do?

Nifedipine is a drug that belongs to the calcium channel blocker class and is mainly used for the treatment of hypertension and angina. It works by dilating blood vessels, improving blood flow, and reducing the oxygen demand of the heart.

Nifedipine relaxes blood vessels by blocking the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells. As a result, blood vessels widen, blood pressure decreases, and the burden on the heart is reduced.
