Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
This medicine is intended for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled even with a combination therapy of telmisartan and amlodipine. In such cases, alternative treatments or additional medication adjustment may be necessary. Since controlling blood pressure is vital for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, regular blood pressure monitoring and consultation with a healthcare provider are recommended. Management is provided to effectively reduce blood pressure and decrease the risk of complications.
This medicine is to be taken once daily, 1 tablet, with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., morning) if possible. For patients whose blood pressure is not controlled with the combination therapy of telmisartan/amlodipine, a dose of 40/5/12.5 mg of this medication may be administered, and dosage adjustments should be made at intervals of more than 2 weeks based on the patient's blood pressure response. The maximum dose of this medication is 80/5/25 mg.
This medicine should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborns. Caution is required for patients with liver dysfunction or progressive liver disease, as serious side effects like hepatic coma may occur when using this medication. Patients with severe kidney disease may also experience increased blood nitrogen levels due to some ingredients in this medication, so careful administration is necessary. Individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication or its ingredients, specific heart conditions, cholestatic diseases, pregnant women, and nursing mothers should not take this medication. Women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy and nursing mothers should avoid using this medication. Caution should be exercised when using this medication in patients with renal artery stenosis, severe hypotension, patients on dialysis, and the elderly, with careful monitoring and dose adjustments needed. Various side effects like hypotension, dizziness, electrolyte imbalance, gastrointestinal bleeding, skin rash, etc., can occur; if any abnormal symptoms arise, prompt consultation with healthcare professionals is advised. The blood pressure may drop suddenly, so it is necessary for patients with fluid or salt deficiency to stabilize their condition before taking this medication and closely monitor their blood pressure during treatment. There is a risk of elevated serum potassium levels; therefore, monitoring through blood tests is necessary when taken in conjunction with potassium supplements or potassium-containing medications. Patients with compromised kidney function should regularly check kidney function and electrolyte status through blood tests while on this medication. Patients with heart disease should also be cautious of the risk of myocardial infarction or angina occurring during treatment with this medication. This medication may cause drowsiness or dizziness when driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised. This medication may interact with various drugs, so if you are taking other medications, be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist. Safety and efficacy have not been established for children and adolescents under 18 years of age, so use in this population is not recommended. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, heart abnormalities, electrolyte imbalance can occur, and immediate medical treatment should be sought. When storing, keep this medication out of reach of children in a cool, dry place, avoiding direct sunlight.
