Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
For patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled even with combination therapy of telmisartan and amlodipine, additional treatment options may be needed. Essential hypertension is a condition where basic blood pressure control is crucial, and combination therapy helps in effectively lowering blood pressure. However, in some cases, adjustments to the combination of drugs or dosages, or the addition of other treatments may be necessary. Managing hypertension is vital for preventing cardiovascular diseases and maintaining overall health, so continuous monitoring and treatment are essential. We will work together to establish the optimal treatment plan that suits your condition.
This medication is taken as one tablet once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). For patients whose blood pressure is not controlled with telmisartan/amlodipine combination therapy, this medication can be administered in a dose of 40/5/12.5 mg, and the dosage should be adjusted considering the patient's blood pressure response, at intervals of more than two weeks. The maximum recommended dose of this medication is 80/5/25 mg.
This medication can cause severe harm to the fetus during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, thus women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not take it. Patients with impaired liver function or progressive liver disease should be cautious as serious side effects such as hepatic coma may occur with this medication. Patients with severe renal disease should use this medication cautiously as it may worsen kidney function or increase blood nitrogen levels. Patients who are allergic to any of the components of this medication or have hypersensitivity, as well as those with specific heart diseases or obstructive biliary disorders, should not take this medication. Lactating women should also avoid this medication as its components may pass into breast milk and affect the infant. Patients with severely low blood pressure, renal failure, electrolyte imbalances such as hypokalemia, hyponatremia, and hypercalcemia should also exercise caution when taking this medication. In elderly patients, the blood pressure-lowering effect may be excessive, so it's important to start at a low dose and closely monitor their condition. While taking this medication, dizziness or hypotensive symptoms may occur, so care should be taken when driving or operating dangerous machinery. While on this medication, blood pressure, kidney function, and serum electrolyte levels should be regularly monitored for abnormalities. When used in combination with other antihypertensive medications, diuretics, lithium, digoxin, or other drugs, the risk of side effects from interactions may increase, so it is essential to consult a doctor. In the event of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, arrhythmias, and renal failure may occur, and immediate medical attention is required.
