Treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease
This medication is used for the treatment of moderate to severe Alzheimer's disease.
This medicine is administered orally once daily and should be taken at the same time every day. If necessary, it can be administered twice daily. 1. Dose increase: The maximum daily dose is 20 mg, and it should be increased by 5 mg weekly for the first three weeks. - First week (days 1-7): administer 5 mg daily - Second week (days 8-14): administer 10 mg daily - Third week (days 15-21): administer 15 mg daily
This medicine should not be used in patients who have an allergic reaction to its components. This medicine should not be administered to patients with severely impaired liver function or significantly reduced kidney function. This medicine contains lactose, so it should not be taken by patients with a genetic disorder that prevents the digestion of lactose. Patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures, or those prone to seizures, should use this medicine with caution. Concomitant use with specific medications such as amantadine, ketamine, and dextromethorphan may increase central nervous system side effects; therefore, it should not be combined with these medications. In cases where urine acidity (pH) changes, the effect and side effects of this medicine may vary, so careful monitoring is required. There is insufficient safety data for patients with myocardial infarction, heart failure, or uncontrolled hypertension; therefore, use should be cautious. This medicine may cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, constipation, drowsiness, and hypertension; consult a doctor if symptoms occur. This medicine may interact with other medications, so if you are currently taking any medications, it is vital to inform the doctor, particularly when using antipsychotic drugs, muscle relaxants, or anticoagulants. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully consider the risks and benefits before taking this medicine, and it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding while using this medicine. The safety and efficacy of this medicine in children or adolescents under 18 years have not been established, so use should be avoided. In cases of overdose, severe symptoms such as coma, hallucinations, and seizures may occur; thus, immediate medical attention must be sought. This medicine may affect the central nervous system, so caution is required while driving or operating machinery. It should be stored out of reach of children, and it is safest not to transfer it to another container.
