Treatment of essential hypertension and hypercholesterolemia (risk reduction of atherosclerosis)
This medication is used for patients who need to take telmisartan/amlodipine combination and rosuvastatin simultaneously. The telmisartan/amlodipine combination helps effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with monotherapy. Rosuvastatin reduces cholesterol levels and improves vascular health in patients with hypercholesterolemia and hyperlipidemia that are not controlled by dietary measures. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases, contributing to lowering the risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and arterial revascularization. Therefore, this drug combination is used to manage hypertension and hyperlipidemia simultaneously, improving cardiovascular health.
This medication is taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day (e.g., in the morning). The telmisartan/amlodipine combination is administered in doses of 40/5 mg, 80/5 mg, 40/10 mg, or 80/10 mg depending on the patient's blood pressure control status. In patients with renal impairment, no dosage adjustment is needed for mild to moderate cases, but patients with severe renal impairment should start at a lower dose.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. While used for the treatment of hypertension and dyslipidemia, this drug should be administered under careful observation by a physician in patients with severe hypotension, the elderly, or those with hyperkalemia. Muscle pain, muscle disease, liver function abnormalities, and other side effects may occur, so if muscle pain or weakness symptoms appear during treatment, it is essential to consult a healthcare professional immediately. Regular blood tests to check muscle enzyme levels and liver function before and during medication are recommended. This medication may interact with other specific drugs, so if there are other medications being taken, it is crucial to inform the healthcare professional.
