Using this medication may cause temporary blurred vision, dryness, minor damage to the cornea, or unpleasant sensations in the eyes. An unusual taste may also be felt. Do not wear contact lenses when the eyes are red. This medication is a non-sedating antihistamine, but it may cause temporary blurriness of vision after instillation, so one must wait for normal vision to return before driving or operating machinery. Patients on steroid treatment should reduce their steroid dosage gradually under a doctor’s management when using this medication. Patients with seasonal allergies should start using this medication before the season when symptoms frequently occur and continue to use it until the season ends. If this medication is ineffective, it is safest not to use it for a prolonged period. This medication is meant for eyes only and should not be used for injection or orally. During pregnancy, it should only be used if the benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus, as animal studies have shown toxicity to both the fetus and the mother with high doses. Breastfeeding women should consider the possible effects on the baby since this medication may be excreted in breast milk. Its safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 2 years of age, so usage is not recommended. Elderly patients generally show similar safety and efficacy as younger patients. To prevent contamination during use, avoid direct contact of the bottle tip with the eyes or hands. After opening, it should be used once, and any remaining solution should be discarded. When using for the first time, discard 1-2 drops to remove any foreign matter from the bottle. The medication should be stored out of reach of children, protected from direct sunlight, and kept in a cool place. Transferring to another container may create a risk of misuse and degradation of quality, so care should be taken. Animal studies have shown no carcinogenic or genetic mutation risks with this medication; however, high doses may affect some reproductive functions, but there are no issues with standard dosages.
