Treatment of essential hypertension and hypercholesterolemia (reduction of atherosclerosis risk)
This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure control is insufficient with the combination of telmisartan and amlodipine alone, and who also need to take rosuvastatin simultaneously. The combination of telmisartan and amlodipine effectively lowers essential hypertension and aids in blood pressure control. Rosuvastatin lowers blood cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels in patients with hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia, thereby improving vascular health. Additionally, in patients with hypercholesterolemia, it delays the progression of atherosclerosis and helps patients with refractory lipid disorders such as homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. In patients at high risk of cardiovascular disease, it is also used to reduce the risk of complications following a stroke, myocardial infarction, or artery revascularization. This medication contributes to cardiovascular health by effectively managing hypertension and hyperlipidemia.
Take one tablet once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended that the medication be taken at the same time daily (e.g., in the morning). The dosage of the telmisartan/amlodipine combination should be adjusted based on blood pressure control status for each component, and dosing adjustments and monitoring are necessary for patients with renal impairment, liver dysfunction, or the elderly. Rosuvastatin can be taken at any time during the day regardless of meals.
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus when taken during pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Do not take if you have an allergy to any of the ingredients in this medication or similar medications. Patients with severe liver or kidney impairment, a history of angioedema, or certain muscle disorders may be at risk if they use this medication, and should avoid taking it. Elderly individuals or patients with noticeably low blood pressure, minor renal or liver dysfunction should be monitored closely while taking this medication. If symptoms such as muscle pain, weakness, or cramps arise while using this medication, consult a physician immediately, and if necessary, conduct blood tests to check for muscle damage. Periodic liver function tests should be conducted if liver dysfunction is suspected, and the medication should be discontinued if liver enzyme levels increase significantly. This medication may interact with other drugs, so be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist, especially if you are taking blood pressure medication, diuretics, certain antibiotics, antifungals, immunosuppressants, or anticoagulants. It is advisable for nursing women not to take this medication; if necessary, breastfeeding should be stopped. It is not recommended for children under 18 years of age as safety and effectiveness have not been sufficiently established. In case of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and arrhythmia may occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought.
