This drug is used for patients with essential hypertension who do not have adequate blood pressure control with monotherapy of Pimasartan potassium. In other words, it helps improve hypertension that is difficult to control with other treatments.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for this drug is 1 tablet once a day, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with Pimasartan monotherapy, consideration can be given to dose regimens of 30/2.5 mg, 60/2.5 mg, or 60/5 mg. No initial dosing adjustment is needed for elderly patients (aged 70 years and older).

Child dose

Safety and efficacy for pediatric and adolescent patients under 18 years of age have not been established.

Precautions

This drug can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This drug should not be administered to patients with allergies to its active ingredients or related components, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients undergoing renal dialysis, those with moderate to severe liver disease, biliary obstruction, diabetic patients with certain kidney diseases, patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and patients with symptoms of shock. Administration should be cautious in patients with low blood volume or salt levels, impaired kidney function, renal artery hypertension, and patients with aortic or mitral valve stenosis or obstructive heart disease, primary hyperaldosteronism, severe hypotension, elderly patients, and those with hypersensitivity to certain pigments. This medication may cause adverse reactions such as dizziness, headache, facial swelling, urinary difficulties, insomnia, and flushing. Rarely, severe kidney problems or blood pressure drops may occur; symptoms should be immediately discussed with a medical professional. Patients with hypotension or electrolyte imbalances should correct these conditions before taking this medication, and blood pressure and electrolyte levels should be monitored periodically during treatment. This drug can increase blood potassium levels; therefore, patients at risk for hyperkalemia should undergo regular blood tests. If taking this drug along with other antihypertensives, certain diuretics, or potassium supplements, interactions may occur, and this should be disclosed to the medical personnel. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should preferably avoid this medication, and in unavoidable cases, consultation with a specialist is necessary to decide on its use. Safety for children and adolescents under 18 years of age has not been established, so it is advisable not to use it. In case of overdose, severe hypotension, arrhythmias, and shock symptoms may occur; therefore, immediate emergency treatment is required. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and should not be transferred to other containers as this is better for maintaining quality.
