Treatment of gastric ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive, ulcerative)
This medication is effective for gastrointestinal disorders such as gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It is also used in the treatment of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It helps with long-term maintenance therapy for gastroesophageal reflux disease. Therefore, it assists in treating conditions related to the stomach and esophagus.
For gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers: Administer orally 20/800 mg once daily, depending on symptoms. Typically, treatment continues for 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. For erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: Administer 20/800 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. If unresolved after 8 weeks of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy, an additional 20/800 mg can be administered orally twice daily for another 8 weeks, particularly for patients with confirmed severe mucosal damage. For long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease: 20/800 mg may be taken orally once a day, depending on the patient. ◯ In patients with liver dysfunction: Abnormal reactions of hepatic encephalopathy have been reported in patients with liver cirrhosis; therefore, caution should be exercised. ◯ In children: Safety for use in children has not been established. ◯ In the elderly: Care should be taken as often there is decreased liver function.

In particular, if there is an electrolyte imbalance, caution is necessary due to the potential exacerbation of the condition from the components of this medication. If allergic symptoms such as skin rash, itching, or difficulty breathing occur during treatment, discontinue immediately and consult a physician. Regular blood tests or liver function tests are recommended, and if any abnormal signs are detected, discontinue the medication and seek appropriate treatment. Additionally, long-term use may cause hypomagnesemia, necessitating monitoring magnesium levels and supplementation if necessary. This medication may increase the risk of bacterial infections in the stomach by suppressing gastric acid secretion, so if diarrhea persists, consult healthcare professionals. This medication can interact with other drugs, so inform your healthcare provider of any other medications being taken, especially when combined with anticoagulants or antiviral agents. In case of overdose, no specific antidote is available, and treatment should be symptomatic under the direction of healthcare professionals.
