Precautions
Care should be taken when administering this medication, as taking more than 5,000 IU of vitamin A daily can pose a risk of congenital malformations in women during the first three months of pregnancy or those who may become pregnant. Patients with hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis, renal diseases, or those with hypersensitivity to this medication, infants under 12 months, patients with kidney stones, and those with genetic issues like lactose intolerance should not take this medication. It is advisable not to take this medication simultaneously with phosphate, calcium salts, oral tetracycline preparations, antacids, or levodopa. Infants under one year, patients receiving medical treatment, children exposed to sunlight while maintaining a normal diet, patients with hyperoxaluria, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, nursing mothers, premature infants, infants, patients with gastrointestinal disorders, heart/circulatory dysfunction, renal impairment, hypoproteinemia, or a history of gout or kidney stones must consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medication. If nausea, vomiting, itching, dry skin, painful joint swelling, diarrhea, gastrointestinal discomfort, constipation, rashes, redness, loose stools, stomatitis, dermatitis, bad odor during sweating/breathing, hair loss, impatience, gastrointestinal disturbances, digestive disorders, abdominal pain, hypotension, pulmonary edema symptoms occur during use, discontinue use immediately and consult healthcare personnel. Additionally, the use of this medication may lead to menstruation cycles becoming shorter or prolonged bleeding, and women taking oral contraceptives should be cautious as the risk of thrombosis may increase. Long-term high-dose use may lead to tolerance, neuropathy, hematologic abnormalities, exacerbation of peptic ulcers, liver damage, edema, or increased risk of osteoporosis, so prescribed doses and usage must be strictly adhered to. When given to children, guidance and supervision from a guardian are essential, and since vitamin A present in this medication can be sufficiently supplied through diet, it should not exceed 5,000 IU per day. This medication may affect blood glucose detection in urine tests and may change urine color, so this should be noted during examinations. Teas containing tannins, such as green tea or black tea, should be avoided before and after taking this medication.
