Precautions
This medication should not be taken by patients with hypercalcemia, patients with sarcoidosis (a systemic inflammatory disease of unknown cause), and individuals with kidney diseases. Additionally, those who have had allergic reactions to this medication or any of its ingredients should avoid taking it. It is also safer for infants under 12 months and individuals with kidney stones or severe renal failure to refrain from using this medication. This medication contains lactose, and individuals with genetic issues such as galactose intolerance, lactose enzyme deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should avoid taking it. It is advisable not to take this medication simultaneously with phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracyclines, or antacids. Infants under 1 year old, individuals currently receiving treatment from a physician, children who are regularly sun-exposed and eating normally, pregnant women or those who could become pregnant, nursing mothers, premature babies, and infants should consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medication. Special caution is needed because Vitamin D can cause hypercalcemia in newborns through breast milk. Those with heart or circulatory issues, kidney problems, hypoproteinemia, those taking cardiac glycosides, individuals with gallbladder or liver diseases, or those with a history of kidney stones should also consult a specialist before taking this medication. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, hypotension, facial flushing, irregular heartbeat, skin rashes, cardiac arrest, or central nervous system depression occur while taking this medication, stop taking it immediately and consult healthcare personnel. Overdosing can also present symptoms such as gastrointestinal disturbances, hypernatremia, congestive heart failure, edema, etc. Long-term use may lead to hypercalcemia and stone disease, and there is a risk of hyperkalemia when taken with certain diuretics, so caution is needed. Follow the prescribed dosage accurately, and when administering to children, the supervision of a guardian is required. It is advisable to avoid teas containing tannins like green tea or black tea during or around the time of intake. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry, and airtight place.
