Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypercalcemia, sarcoidosis (a systemic inflammatory disease of unknown cause), and those with kidney diseases. Additionally, patients with an allergic reaction to this medication or its components, infants under 12 months old, patients with kidney stones, and those with severe renal failure should not take this medication. This medication contains lactose, so patients with lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or genetic issues like glucose-galactose malabsorption should also avoid it. During use, it is advisable not to take medications like phosphates, calcium salts, oral tetracycline preparations, and antacids together. Infants under 1 year old, patients currently receiving medical treatment, children who are getting enough sunlight and eating normally, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, breastfeeding women, preterm infants, and infants should consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication. This is because the vitamin D component can be secreted into breast milk, causing hypercalcemia in newborns. Patients with heart or circulatory function issues, kidney disorders, hypoproteinemia, those taking cardiac glycosides, and those with a history of kidney stones should also consult a specialist before taking. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, hypotension, flushing, arrhythmia, or skin rashes occur while taking this medication, immediately stop use and consult a specialist. Additionally, overdose may cause gastrointestinal symptoms, hypernatremia, congestive heart failure, and swelling; long-term use may lead to hypercalcemia or stone disease. Care must be taken when taking it with aldosterone antagonists or triamterene due to the risk of hyperkalemia. If symptoms do not improve after about one month of taking it, consult a specialist. It is essential to follow the prescribed dosage and to supervise and guide when administering to children. It is advisable to avoid tannin-containing teas such as green tea or black tea during and before/after taking this medication. Store this medication out of the reach of children, away from direct sunlight, and in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. Additionally, to prevent misuse and maintain quality, it should not be transferred to other containers.
