This medication is used as an adjunct to diet to lower total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels and to increase HDL cholesterol levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It may also be used in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia as an adjunct or alternative to other lipid-lowering therapies. This drug helps improve vascular health through lipid control in patients at high risk for cardiovascular disease. It should be applied along with dietary modifications, and is used when other non-medical therapies are insufficient. It is important to identify and treat any secondary causes of dyslipidemia before initiation. Overall, this medication effectively improves hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia.
