View approved original text

This medication helps lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels and increases HDL cholesterol in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It can also be used as an adjunct therapy to lower total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. This medication is used in conjunction with an appropriate diet and is administered when diet alone does not provide sufficient effect. Various risk factors should be considered when prescribing lipid-lowering medications, and this can be used alongside other lipid-lowering therapies. Before administration, it is important to verify and treat secondary causes of dyslipidemia such as diabetes, hypothyroidism, and chronic renal failure as needed. This medication is used for the treatment of dyslipidemia and hypercholesterolemia.
