This medication helps lower elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo B protein, triglycerides, and non-HDL cholesterol levels, and increases the good cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It can also be used in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia either in conjunction with other treatments or as a substitute. This drug is used alongside proper dietary control and is an adjunct treatment when non-pharmacological methods do not yield sufficient effects. Before starting treatment, one must check for other underlying conditions or drug influences and establish the treatment plan based on thorough blood lipid assessments. In patients with a high risk of atherosclerotic vascular disease due to hypercholesterolemia, careful consideration of multiple risk factors is necessary for its use. Overall, this medication effectively regulates blood lipids and aids in improving cardiovascular health.
