Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication helps to effectively control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. It aids in blood sugar management when used alone or in combination with other medications alongside meal and exercise regimens. By doing so, it plays an important role in maintaining stable blood sugar levels for diabetes management. Depending on the patient's condition, it can be administered as monotherapy or in combination therapy, so it is advisable to take it under the guidance of a physician. This medication improves blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes.
The recommended dosage of this medication is 5 mg once daily. It can be taken regardless of meals.
This medication should not be used in patients who have allergic reactions to the active ingredient or any other components. It is safe not to administer this medication to patients with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. There may be an increased risk of hypoglycemia when used with insulin or sulfonylureas, which can cause hypoglycemia. Experience with this medication in patients with heart failure is limited, so it should be used with caution. Acute pancreatitis symptoms may arise, so if there is persistent severe abdominal pain, it is important to stop taking it immediately and consult healthcare professionals. A skin condition called bullous pemphigoid may occur, so any blisters or skin abrasions should be reported to a physician right away. Hypoglycemia symptoms may occur while taking this medication, so one should be well-informed and prepared for hypoglycemic symptoms. Severe joint pain may occur, so if severe joint pain develops, consider discontinuation of the medication. While the potential for drug interactions is low, careful dosage adjustments may be necessary when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Pregnant or nursing women should avoid using this medication, and nursing mothers should specifically consult with healthcare professionals. Safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established in children under 10 years of age or adolescents aged 10 to 17, and therefore, it is not recommended. In elderly patients, it can be used without special dosage adjustments but may be applicable for patients with renal or liver dysfunction as well. In cases of overdose, measures should be taken to prevent absorption of the medication from the gastrointestinal tract, and appropriate treatment should be provided based on the symptoms. Store the medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to other containers.
