Adult dose

Usually dissolve 1 packet in 125mL of water for ingestion. Children aged 12 and older and adults: Usually take 1 to 3 packets daily in divided doses, adjusting the dosage according to individual response. In cases of severe chronic or persistent constipation requiring specialist treatment, it may be administered at a maintenance dose of 1 to 2 packets per day.

Precautions

This medication should not be taken by patients with structural or functional impairments of the intestinal wall, or patients with intestinal perforation or obstruction. Patients with severe inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or toxic megacolon should also not use this medication. Additionally, individuals who are hypersensitive to this medication or its components should avoid its use. While taking this medication, the gastrointestinal transit speed may increase, potentially interfering with the absorption of other orally taken medications, such as antiepileptic drugs, so it is advisable not to take them together. For drugs that dissolve well in alcohol but poorly in water, the solubility may increase due to the polyethylene glycol 3350 included in this medication, so caution is warranted. This medication is not recommended for children under the age of 12, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should only use it if necessary after consulting a physician. If symptoms such as swelling, shortness of breath, fatigue, dehydration, or fluid or electrolyte imbalance indicative of heart failure occur during treatment with this medication, it is essential to stop taking it immediately and consult a doctor or pharmacist. Gastrointestinal adverse reactions may commonly occur since this medication increases intestinal motility or the volume of intestinal contents. Allergic reactions or immune system abnormal responses such as angioedema, difficulty breathing, rash, itching, as well as metabolic disorders such as hyperkalemia and hypokalemia, headaches, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting, indigestion, and abdominal distension may occur. No dose adjustment is necessary for those with renal impairment. In case of overdose, severe abdominal pain or distension may occur, and gastrointestinal suction treatment may be required. In cases of significant fluid loss due to diarrhea or vomiting, treatment to restore electrolyte balance may be necessary. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and it is important not to transfer it to another container. The prepared solution should be covered and refrigerated, and any solution not used after 6 hours should be discarded.

Questions about this medicine
