This medication should not be used by patients with certain conditions. For example, it should not be administered to patients suffering from inflammatory bowel disease, patients with intestinal obstruction syndrome, or patients with unexplained abdominal pain. Additionally, patients with allergies to this medicine or its components, or to Rhein class drugs should not use it. Patients with liver disease or those who have had a history of liver disease, as well as children under the age of 15, should also refrain from taking this medication. Since this medication contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with genetic issues such as lactose intolerance, galactose intolerance, or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Patients with a history of small intestine or colon disease should use this medication cautiously, and pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to avoid using it. Elderly patients aged 65 and older should use a reduced dosage. When taking this medication, gastrointestinal adverse reactions may occur, including diarrhea, loose stools, and abdominal pain. Prolonged use could lead to serious issues such as gastric bleeding, ulcers, or perforation. If diarrhea worsens, dehydration and electrolyte imbalance may occur, requiring caution. Skin reactions such as itching, rash, and eczema may occur, and hepatic enzyme levels may increase due to impaired liver function. Patients must strictly follow the physician's instructions when using it in the long term, and should immediately discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if diarrhea occurs. It is advisable to avoid using medications for diarrhea concurrently. There is a risk of liver damage, so if there are signs of liver dysfunction or hepatic toxicity, patients should stop taking this medication and follow their physician's instructions. Additionally, it is advisable to restrict alcohol consumption while taking this medication. This medication may have reduced absorption if taken with antacids containing calcium, magnesium, or aluminum, or with sodium, thus it should be taken with a minimum gap of 2 hours. When taken with diuretics, it may enhance diuretic effects, increasing the risk of dehydration and hypokalemia, requiring caution. There is also an elevated risk of arrhythmias if combined with cardiac glycoside medications. Animal studies during pregnancy have shown delays in fetal bone formation, and the effects on humans are unclear, but it may be transmitted in small amounts through breast milk, making it advisable for pregnant and breastfeeding women to avoid it.
