Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with viral keratoconjunctival diseases, fungal eye diseases, mycobacterial infections, chronic blepharitis, and those with hypersensitivity to this medication. In principle, it should not be used in patients with corneal epithelial defects or ulcers, viral or purulent eye diseases, glaucoma patients, and infants under 2 years of age; it should only be used very cautiously in unavoidable cases. Long-term use may present the risk of increased intraocular pressure, glaucoma, optic nerve damage, and decreased vision, so regular intraocular pressure checks should be performed. In addition, infectious diseases such as herpes keratitis, fungal keratitis, and Pseudomonas infections may occur, and serious side effects such as corneal perforation or posterior capsule opacification can rarely occur. Prolonged use of this medication may suppress the host immune response, increasing the risk of secondary eye infections, and caution is required. In cases of acute purulent eye infection, the use of this medication may mask or worsen symptoms, so it should be used with caution. Due to the risk of infection with chickenpox or measles, the patient's medical history and vaccination status should be checked before administration. If infection is suspected or occurs, immediate consultation with medical personnel is necessary. Using this medication on red eyes without a doctor’s diagnosis may result in blindness, so it must be used only according to a specialist's prescription. If this medication is administered for longer than 10 days, especially in children or patients who cannot cooperate, regular intraocular pressure checks are necessary. If inflammation or pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, usage should be discontinued immediately and a physician should be consulted. Patients wearing contact lenses must remove the lenses before use and can only reapply them at least 30 minutes after administration. Transient blurred vision may occur while using this medication, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided until vision is clear. Particularly caution is required for children and patients taking CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir, cobicistat) due to the risk of systemic side effects. Women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should avoid prolonged or frequent use, and nursing mothers should refrain from administration and, if unavoidable, discontinue breastfeeding. This medication is intended for ophthalmic use only, and the tip of the container should not come into direct contact with the eye. Be sure to shake well before use. To prevent contamination, do not share with others, and store it in a tightly sealed container in a cool place away from direct sunlight to ensure it is out of reach of children. Also, to maintain quality, do not transfer to another container.
