Initial treatment effect for recurrent herpes labialis
This medication is used for the initial treatment of recurrent herpes labialis. Herpes labialis is a condition characterized by recurrent blisters and inflammation in the lip area. Early treatment can prevent symptom exacerbation and facilitate rapid recovery. This medication helps to suppress viral proliferation during the initial stages, thereby reducing the duration of symptoms and alleviating pain. Thus, using this medication for the initial treatment of recurrent herpes labialis contributes to symptom improvement.
Apply an adequate amount to the affected area edges five times a day for 5 days. Treatment should begin as soon as possible when initial symptoms and signs appear.
This medication should not be used by individuals with certain infections. For example, bacterial infections such as tuberculosis or syphilis, fungal infections like candidiasis or tinea, and viral infections such as shingles or chickenpox can be worsened by this medication. Individuals with a known allergy to this medication or those who have experienced hypersensitivity reactions should also refrain from using it. Furthermore, patients with severely compromised immune systems, such as those who have undergone bone marrow transplants or have AIDS, should avoid this medication. Patients with eczema of the external ear with a perforated tympanic membrane should exercise caution when using this medication as it may delay wound healing. Patients with ulcers, severe burns, or frostbite may also experience delayed skin regeneration, so it is advisable not to use this medication. Individuals with perioral dermatitis, common acne, rosacea, breastfeeding women, and children under 18 years old should avoid using this medication. Elderly patients may experience side effects more easily, so special caution is required for their use. Moreover, individuals who are allergic or hypersensitive to propylene glycol, a component of this medication, should use it cautiously. If during use, symptoms such as skin dryness or peeling, burning sensation, tingling, erythema, pigmentation, inflammation, or allergic reactions occur, immediate discontinuation of use and consultation with a doctor or pharmacist is necessary. Since skin infections may occur, appropriate treatments should be initiated or the use of this medication should be discontinued if infection symptoms appear. Care should be taken when using this medication for extended periods or on large areas, as side effects like skin thinning or vascular dilation may occur. Notably, when using occlusive bandages, systemic side effects may arise. When used around the eyes, there is a risk of increased intraocular pressure or diseases such as glaucoma, so caution is warranted. The treatment duration for this medication is limited to within 5 days. If symptoms do not improve or worsen, usage should be immediately discontinued, and a specialist consulted. This medication is only for the treatment of herpes labialis around the lips and should not be used for other skin conditions or infection prevention purposes. This medication may cause skin irritation or allergic reactions, thus strict adherence to the prescribed dosage and administration is crucial. This medication should not be mixed or diluted with other drugs, and systemic side effects can develop with prolonged use on large areas necessitating regular monitoring. If vision changes or blurred vision occurs during use, it is essential to consult an ophthalmologist immediately.
