How to use

Adult use

Apply an adequate amount to fully cover the surrounding area of the lesions 5 times a day for 5 days. Treatment should commence as soon as early symptoms and signs appear.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with certain infections, such as bacterial infections like tuberculosis or syphilis, fungal infections like candidiasis or tinea, and viral infections like herpes zoster or chickenpox, as it may exacerbate symptoms. Individuals with hypersensitivity to this medication or those who have experienced allergic reactions previously should not use it. Patients with severely compromised immunity such as those undergoing bone marrow transplants or those with AIDS should also not use this medication. Patients with eczematous otitis externa who have a perforated eardrum should avoid this medication as it may delay wound healing. Patients with ulcers, severe burns, or frostbite should not use this medication, as it may inhibit skin regeneration and delay healing. It is safest for patients with perioral dermatitis, common acne, rosacea, breastfeeding women, and children under 18 to avoid using this medication. This medication should not be applied to sensitive areas such as the eyes, nose, mouth, or genital regions. It is advised to avoid taking certain medications, particularly systemic acyclovir, while using this drug. Additionally, unless there is a special reason, breastfeeding should be avoided during the use of this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should consult a doctor before using this medication, and elderly individuals should be monitored closely due to the increased risk of side effects. This medication contains the ingredient propylene glycol, so individuals allergic to this component should use it with caution. During use, adverse reactions such as dry skin, peeling, burning sensation, tingling, erythema, hyperpigmentation may occur, and if these symptoms arise, use should be discontinued immediately and a specialist consulted. Long-term or extensive use may result in various side effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasia, and steroid acne, so caution is advised. Particularly when using occlusive bandaging methods, corticosteroids can be absorbed systemically, leading to serious side effects such as adrenal suppression, so caution should be exercised. When used around the eyes, there is a risk of increased intraocular pressure or glaucoma, so attention is required. The treatment period should be limited to 5 days, and if symptoms do not improve or worsen, use should be stopped immediately and a doctor consulted. This medication is only for the early treatment of herpes simplex labialis and in cases where bacterial or fungal infections are difficult to differentiate, a professional diagnosis is necessary. Skin irritation or allergic reactions may occur during use, so the prescribed dosage and administration should be strictly adhered to. This medication is not used to prevent transmission to others or for the prophylaxis of recurrent herpes simplex.
